Since 2008, Eisbahn has become an integral part of the Christmas season in Fredericksburg and the Hill Country. Eisbahn attracts hundreds of visitors, skaters, and spectators from local communities and metropolitan areas who come to Fredericksburg to share in our town’s holiday spirit. Last year we welcomed more skaters than ever, and this year we are anticipating to break previous records! For many families, Eisbahn has become an annual family holiday tradition.
One hundred percent (100%) of the families at Heritage School volunteer to work Eisbahn. It is only through family volunteerism that Eisbahn is successful year after year. A portion of the proceeds from Eisbahn is donated to two great causes: Lifeline Foundation supporting (cystic fibrosis research) and the Boys and Girls Club of Fredericksburg. In addition, Eisbahn contributes to needs-based tuition assistance for qualifying families at Heritage School.
Eisbahn is open the Friday after Thanksgiving through New Year’s weekend. Check the actual hours of operation on this website. Bring your family and friends and join Heritage families at Eisbahn this holiday season.
We look forward to seeing you there!
When does Eisbahn open?
Eisbahn opens on Friday after Thanksgiving at 10:00 a.m. The rink will be open EVERY day EXCEPT Christmas Eve and Christmas Day through New Year’s weekend.
How do I schedule a private party?
To schedule a party, please contact Kathy Ferrier at 830.733.7996.
Can we rent Eisbahn for a private party?
Yes, but only outside of normal operating hours. The minimum charge is $350 which includes skating for up to 25 people and lasts for 2 hours. (Once the rink opens to the public, you are welcome to continue skating, but the private party will end.) If you bring 10 people for a private party, the fee is $350 If you bring 25 people, the charge is $350. Additional people over 25, will be charged at the regular rate of $15 per person. So for 35 guests at a private party the fee would be $350.
Can we have a one-hour private party and just pay $175?
Unfortunately no. There is a lot of work involved in opening the rink and setting up staff outside of normal hours. While you may choose to skate for only one hour, the minimum fee is still $350.
Can I skate for a while, leave for lunch and then return later in the day?
Yes, your stamp pass is good for one whole day.
Why do the hours vary on Fridays?
Before school lets out for the holidays, Fridays are treated as weekdays, and we are open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The only exception is the day after Thanksgiving; since it is a holiday and is opening day, we are open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. After school gets out for the Christmas holidays, we're open Monday through Saturday 10 am to 10 pm. On Sundays we are open 1 pm to 8 pm. Except on New Year’s Eve when we will close at 6:00 p.m.
How much does it cost to skate?
The cost for a one-day wristband is still only $15.00 which includes the cost of renting your skates.
Do you get a discount if you have your own skates?
The ticket price remains at $15.
Do you sell season passes? No. As this is a charity event, we do not offer season passes, but we do offer 10 day passes for $135 which saves you $15.00! These can be purchased at the rink.
Is there anything to eat or drink at the rink?
Definitely! Each year we offer a variety of concessions including items such as pizza, candy, sodas, and hot chocolate.
I would like to give skate passes as gifts or stocking stuffers. Is there anywhere I can buy them?
Sure! You can always buy passes at the rink, and they do make great gifts!
Can we bring our own music to be played while skating?
To ensure that Eisbahn is in keeping with the theme of the St. Nickolausmarkt, Eisbahn plays traditional Christmas tunes and fun upbeat seasonal music, no other music is permitted.
Does the rink provide child care services?
No. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
